Governor Ridwan Kamil Utilizes Technology in Cutting Down Bureaucracy

BANDUNG, – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has promised to facilitate all heads of villages and neighborhoods (RWs) with mobile phones. This move is to make all regional government apparatus in West Java to be technologically literate.

The governor, who is familiarly called Emil, said he wanted to make the heads of villages and RWs as digital development agents in the province. He is determined to make West Java a digital province in Indonesia.

“The fourth mission is to increase the economic productivity of the people through the technology and collaboration. We will distribute the mobile phones to the village and RW heads, so that they will become digital development agents,” said Emil, at Gedung Sate, on Thursday (9/6).

The mobile phones, according to him, will help resolve problems more quickly. They are also expected to drive the economy in the villages to run better with the generation of innovations.

“The aspirations can be quickly (conveyed), the agricultural products can be informed and sold using the cellphones. So, the Regional House of Representatives please be supportive (to this plan). The cellphones will be a revolution in how to communicate and to trade,” he said.

He also will not make a distance with the regional heads at regency/city level. He wants the regents and mayors to collaborate to jointly develop West Java in the next five years.

Emil plans to create whatsapp groups with all regional heads in West Java. Emil will also invite regional heads to have a fishing trip together so that they can improve emotional relationship.

“In the collaboration there will be less orders, more consensuses. In the next five years we will gather in a fishing trip once in every three months. I want to build an inner relationship between the governor and the regional heads,” Emil said. (DTK/TPP)
