JAKARTA, presidentpost.id – In welcoming the 2018 Asian Games, DKI Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan opened the Asian Textiles Exhibition at the Textile Museum, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Thursday (9/8).
The exhibition with the theme “Share Roots, Celebreting Asia’s Textile Traditions Divers Growth” was also attended by the Sri Lankan Youth and Sports Minister, Deputy Ambassador Kazastan, Acting Head of the Jakarta Tourism & Culture Office, Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture Representative, Head of the Art Museum UP, representatives of Wastra Indonesia and Toraja Melo and Chairperson of the Jakarta PKK TP.
In his speech Anies said, he welcomed the activitiesto welcome the XVIII Asian Games. “I appreciate craftsmen, collectors and textile lovers from Indonesia, especially, also from Asia,” he said as quoted from beritajakarta.
Anies also mentioned that the displayed clothes were not just showing creativity in the past, but could also inspire new breakthroughs related to textiles. “This exhibition is a part of cultural expression that is always developing,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Wastra Association, Bhimanto Suwastoyo said, fabrics in Indonesia and other countries in Asia are very rich in variety. “There are many things we can learn from the culture and development of fabrics in each region,” he said. (TPP)
