From the 15 BI corners in Central Java, according to him, 12 of them were set up under the cooperation with universities, while the other three with high schools.
Hamid said the three high schools equipped with BI corners are located in Semarang, Demak and Kudus. BI corners, he added, is Bank Indonesia’s social program with the flagship theme of “Smart Indonesia”.
The purpose is to improve the intellectuality of students, especially in the economic and financial fields. “Hopefully this program can improve the quality of students,” he said.
Hamid further said that in establishing cooperation, BI first learned the readiness of the facilities and infrastructure of the high school or university, related to various types of books that would be donated to the BI corners.
SMAN 1 Kudus placed BI corner in the corner of its library with the hope that it would benefit the students, especially for those who want to access information related to Bank Indonesia, economy, and finance.
Acting Headmaster of SMAN 1 Kudus, Sri Haryoko, expressed his appreciation to Bank Indonesia in trusting SMAN 1 Kudus with the BI corner facility. He said he hoped the students and teachers will make use the facility to know deeper the role of Bank Indonesia.
“Of course, the BI corner can become a medium for the other schools to take part in learning about finance and the banking’s role,” he said, adding that so far SMAN 1 Kudus has become a reference for other schools.
He also said the cooperation would continue with study trips and monitoring activities on the operation of the BI corner. (ANT/TPP)
