Kertajati Airport to be Connected to Toll Road and Industrial Estates Soon

JAKARTA, – West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati in Majalengka, West Java, started its operational on Wednesday (5/24), marked by the smooth landing of the Presidential Plane of Indonesia-1 carrying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his entourage.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan said BIJB will be connected to the Cisumdawu toll road, Patimban Port, and the industrial estates in Bekasi, Karawang, and Purwakarta.

“Later there will be a toll road connecting Bandung and Cirebon, also Patimban Port, then industrial estates in Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta. All are being processed right now,” said Luhut at Kertajati Airport, Majalengka, on Thursday (25/5).

Kertajati Airport will also be developed into an aerocity, covering a land area of 3,000 hectares which has been prepared.

“The 3,000 hectares of land has been prepared by Transportation Minister,” he added.

Kertajati Airport is also expected to be one of the busiest airports in Indonesia and will reduce the dense traffics at Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

The Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train is also planned to be extended to the Kertajati Airport, even will reach Surabaya.

“Later the Jakarta-Bandung fast train will also be extended to pass through Yogya, Solo, and Surabaya,” said Luhut. (DTK/TPP)
