Grand Economics 2017: President University Wins Third Place in Indonesia Next Top Manager Debate Competition


CIKARANG, – President University (PresUniv) held a closing ceremony and awarding night of Grand Economics 2017 competition that was held at Holiday Inn Hotel, Cikarang (11/11). The event was a two day competition: Economic Smart Challenge (ESC) and Indonesia Next Top Manager (INETOR). Attending the event, Dr. Dra. Genoveva, M.M (Head of Management Study Programme President University), Purwanto, ST., M.M., (Head of Student Affair and Management Lecturer of PresUniv), Hanif A. Widyanto, S.E., MM (Management Lecturer of PresUniv), and approximately 150 lecturers amd students.

Being held as annual event of Management Study Programme, Grand Economics aimed to shape the mindset and logic of young economist on how to analyze and solve current global economic issues as well as to gain knowledge and increase competitiveness of young generations in the hope that participants will give contribution for the country as an agent of change.

ESC was held to be a platform for Indonesian high school students to gain ability to compete in the field of economy. This competition started with case study distribution, followed with a written test (multiple choice and essay written in Bahasa Indonesia and English) and presentation session. Six schools participated in the competition: SMAN 1 Karawang, SMAN 2 Bekasi, SMAN 2 Tambun Selatan, SMAN 4 Tambun Selatan, and SMA Don Bosco 3 CIkarang. SMA Don Bosco 3 Cikarang won the first place, followed by two teams from SMAN 2 Kota Bekasi as the second and third winner.

On the other hand, INETOR is an essay and debate competition for undergraduate students in Indonesia aimed to accomodate aspirations and innovations of young generation especially management students to increase knowledge and understanding on international trade. The event was participated by seven teams from four universities: President University, Universitas Indonesia, Binus University, and Telkom University. Universitas Indonesia won the first place, followed by Telkom University and President University in the second and third winner.

Completing the event, there was also a national seminar themed “Entrpreneurship in International Business” that was held on November 11 at Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University. The lecture were delivered by Miftah Zikri, B.Sc., M.Sc (CEO and Founder dari PT. Sahabat UMKM Indonesia-Transaku), and Triarso Widjasena (General Manager Trade Marketing PT Nippon Indosari Corpindo Tbk).

“Through this event, we hope to strengthen our presence at high school level as well as universities and entrepreneur level. That is why we embrace these three groups,” said Genoveva. (PU/TPP)
