The Presidential Palace received a visit of President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. He arrived at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/5) afternoon. The visit of the Afghan president was welcomed by the President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who took immediately the hand of President of Afghanistan once he got out of the car.
Both the heads of states then followed a state ceremony, where the national anthems of the respective countries were aired. President Joko Widodo and President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani received honorary salutes from the troops and inspected the troops afterward. The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan made a difference when he was greeting and shaking hands with elementary school students who welcomed his arrival.
The next agenda was signing a book by the President of Afghanistan, a group photo and holding a talk on the back veranda of Merdeka Palace. The veranda was warm and the talk lasted long enough. Then, the two presidents held a bilateral meeting in the Bilateral room at the Merdeka Palace.
At present to accompany President Jokowi on the occasion, among others were Coordinating Minister for Politics Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister for Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Education Minister Muhadjir Effendy, Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, and National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian.
