Sharia Tourism to be Standardized Soon

Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) has targeted that the standardization of sharia tourism will be completed before the cabinet of Jokowi-JK inaugurated. Some elements to be standardized are restaurant, travel agency, and spa. In early 2014, Kemenparekraf issued kosher hospitality rule.

“It’s been in progress. My colleagues in the unit that handles the standardization process have targeted to complete it by the end of September, before the new cabinet is sworn in,” said Marketing Director General of Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, Esthy Reko Astuti at a Sharia Tourism Seminar on The Rise of Real Sector in Islamic Economy, in Jakarta on Saturday (27/9).

According to Esthy, in developing the sharia tourism sector in Indonesia, the ministry continues to do the marketing and promotion as well as improving the quality of human resources (HR). “To increase the quality of HR, we do the socialization and training in the regions with the curriculum based on cooperation with the tourism vocational schools,” she said.

In addition, it increases the cooperation with other parties both domestically and abroad to promote the sharia tourism.

“We are cooperating with Sharia Economic Community, establishing bilateral cooperation with Malaysia which is the best country in sharia tourism, and with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC),” said Esthy. (jok)
