Despite the fact that Indonesia has been on the right track in dealing with global crisis, the acceleration on current global condition recovery is required to minimize its impacts to Indonesia in the future. “In the upcoming years 2013, 2014, if there is no rapid improvement in the world, it will be harder for us,” as stated by Minister of Finance Agus D.W. Martowardojo in Jakarta.
From fiscal side, there happened to be a State revenue decrease from taxation sector in the second semester last year. This becomes one of the indicators that Indonesia has been affected by the ongoing global crisis. Moreover, the government still faces the subsidy burden, which exceeds the budget ceiling. “The one that makes it even harder in 2012 was the oil fuel and electricity subsidy pressure,” he explained.
Therefore, Minister re-affirmed the importance of staying focus and alert on the global crisis impacts. Though Indonesia has accomplished a quite satisfying economic achievement in the previous years, Minister expects that it will not divert the focus to improve performance. “We need to be careful, do not just focus on what we have achieved now. We should improve our grade,” he said.
