Ministry of Public Works through the Directorate General of Human Settlements granted funds amounting to Rp1,6 trillion to accelerate the economic development of rural communities in 34 districts in Indonesia.
The grants come from the Japanese government through JICA loan. Each district will receive funding support from central to Rp2 billion for strategic area counties. While for each district will receive funds of Rp1,5 billion.
The purpose of these grants to pursue poverty reduction, equitable development and improving the welfare of the people in these areas.
34 district consists of 9 provinces namely North Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, South Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara. While the number of districts that obtain this grant as many as 237 districts.
