DIY Tourism Promotion in 2012 Will Be Improved

Tourism stakeholders of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta  (DIY) in 2012 should increase tourism promotion both within and outside the country if they want more tourists to visit this area, said Chairman of the Widya Yogyakarta Cultural Foundation, Widi Utaminingsih.

“The efforts of a more vigorous promotion of tourism needs to be done to attract tourists to visit this area,” said Widi Utaminingsih in Yogyakarta, Monday (19/12).

According to him, although Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) has long been recognized as a leading tourist destinations, promotion is still needed to attract moretourists to visit this area.

He said the campaign must still be done routinely on every tourism activity both at home and abroad.

“Without any promotion continuously, the DIY as a tourist destination will be more abandoned and forgotten, moreover other tourist destination in Indonesia continues to improve his promotion,” said Widi Utaminingsih which the foundation engaged in the study ofculture and tourism development based on local potential. He said promotion of tourism can not only be done DIY Provincial Tourism Office, but should be done all the stakeholders of tourism in this area.

“Tourism promotion activities should be added more numerous than in 2011 as an effort tohelp improve the tourism image of DIY,” he said.

According to him, DIY as a leading tourist destination has the potential tourist attractions as diverse as arts and culture, natural mountains, beaches, rural tourism, spiritual tourism,special interest tours, and culinary tours are now being developed.

Diversity in DIY tours should be seeded to attract foreign tourists and the archipelago cameto this area, he said
